Lionsgate has officially announced the development of "John Wick: Chapter 5," with Keanu Reeves set to reprise his role as the titular assassin.Director Chad Stahelski and producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will also return for the new installment.

This announcement was made at CinemaCon 2025 by Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson, who emphasized the team's commitment to delivering a fresh and phenomenal continuation of the franchise.

The previous film, "John Wick: Chapter 4," concluded ambiguously, leaving fans questioning the fate of Reeves' character.Director Chad Stahelski revealed that an alternate ending, which clearly showed John Wick alive, was filmed and preferred by test audiences.

In addition to the fifth chapter, the "John Wick" universe is expanding with several projects:

• "Ballerina" Spinoff: Keanu Reeves will appear alongside Ana de Armas in this spinoff, set for release on June 6, 2025.

• Caine Spinoff Film: Martial arts icon Donnie Yen will reprise his role as Caine in a standalone spinoff movie, which he is also set to direct. Production is scheduled to begin in Hong Kong later this year.

• Animated Prequel: An animated prequel film is in development, focusing on John Wick's early exploits. Keanu Reeves is expected to voice the character, exploring the events surrounding the "Impossible Task" before the original 2014

These developments underscore Lionsgate's dedication to expanding the "John Wick" franchise, much to the excitement of fans worldwide.
